What can be done to avoid skin cancer?
Skin cancer can be very frightening, especially if you know someone who has had serious problems with it. Unnoticed, skin cancer can be fatal, but the truth is that skin cancer is one of the easiest forms of cancer to conquer when you spot it in time. If you pay attention and do regular self-examinations, you can avoid serious complications. When you notice skin cancer in its early stages, there are good possibilities that it can be removed and will be free and quickly. Of course, your self examinations should be in addition to an annual medical examination, doctors often trained eye to spot skin cancer, even faster than you do.Most brands that can be seen on the skin are normal events, but you need to know the differences, in order to conduct regular self. If you have 100 or more moles, you should be sure to do regular self-examinations (paying careful attention to any changes in your moles), as were most at risk of skin cancer. The following things are normal:
Symmetrical marks, which means we could put a line through the center of the place is dark and the same on both sides of the line.
Smooth border, meaning that around the edges are smooth dark place, usually quite fresh.
Full color; normal markings do not have a variety of color marking.
Size; normal markings are usually no larger than ¼ inch in diameter.
Amendments, normal markings not grow and change shape or height.
Itching, bleeding or other discharge; normal markings normally not have these symptoms.
Now that you know what is normal, you can do self-examinations. If you have markings that do not meet the above requirements, you should consult your doctor. He will be able to determine whether the marking (s) are normal or cancerous.
Checking for you early signs of skin cancer is not very difficult. All you need is a well-lit room, which has a full-length mirror in it, a pair of chairs (or something that you can sit up), a hand mirror, and a hairdryer.
First examine the front of the head, the back of your head, ears, and your face. When examining the head, you will probably need to use the hair dryer to be able to see your good scalp. When checking from behind the ears and back of your head, you must use both mirrors.
Second, check both the front and back of your neck. Be sure to watch the bottom of your jaw.
Thirdly, check your back (front), chest and stomach. Women should check under the breast.
Fourth, check the front of your arms and legs, hands, and the top of the feet.
Fifth, check your back, and the back of these body parts: shoulders, arms, legs and buttocks.
Sixthly, (you will need to sit down), check the rest of your feet (use the hand mirror to see the sides and soles).
In seventh place, still seated, proposed your feet on the second chair and use the hand mirror to examine your genitals.
By keeping an eye on your skin, you will be able to detect changes more rapidly than anyone. If you have moles, you must come to know very well the changes in them are warning signs. Remember that, caught early, skin cancer is almost able to be healed. Make your car regular exams and visit your doctor yearly to protect yourself.
