According to the United States National Institute of Health, more than half of the population is overweight and nearly one-quarter of U.S. adults are obese.

How can this possibly be?  Have you ever seen the food people used to eat?  According to Betty Crocker's 1975 Step By Step Recipes, unflavored gelatin, canned soup, hot dogs and cheese are mandatory ingredients for most every meal.

I learned this a couple of years ago  when I stumbled across an ancient box of glossy recipes cards at Value Village.  I was curious.  What did people used to eat?  I vaguely remember my mother collecting the very same cards and after reading a few I got hooked.  Recipes like Creamy Dried Beef Mold and Eggs in a Ring blew my mind.  At best, these meals were dreadful and that recipe box lead to my hobby of collecting recipes cards and cookbooks from the 60's & 70's.

Now, my album is complete and I created this site because I'm passionate about  preserving this forgotten culture.  These recipes are much more than just fatty meals high in sodium.  They're a tribute to an era.  A place long ago where chemicals and preservatives were new and exciting.  A time when fake was good and meals were judged based on how well  they'd stay fresh without refrigeration.  And even though we're fatter today, this site genuinely reflects how far we've come.   We've come a long way baby and at this site you'll see it in the Tuna Bake topped with potato chips.

So, enjoy this flashback but  please,

DON'T TRY ANY OF THESE AT HOME!
