  • CAUSES OF ORIGIN Extraoral

    2008 - 11.29

Not always the halitosis is caused by poor oral hygiene or intra-oral causes. Sometimes, factors contributing to the problem that apparently have nothing to do with bad breath.
Among these it is worth pointing out, because most can affect the youngest:
        1. Chronic tonsillitis due to beta haemolytic streptococcus group A resistant to therapy. In those cases where the germ is responsible can not be eliminated with pharmacological therapy, it is good to resort to surgery.
        2. Sore throat and / or persistent febbricola
        3. Parasites in the stools curable with Mebendanzolo (an antiparasitic drug). In this
respect, it was a study conducted on 162 children aged between 5 and 16 years. Of these, 64% of those treated with Mebendanzolo recovered by halitosis compared to 8.3% of those who had taken placebo. Among those who had no parasites in stool, however, the 26.92% improved after treatment with Mebendanzolo compared to 20% of those who were administered placebo. The authors of the study, therefore, argue that therapy Mebendanzolo appears to offer more benefits in children with halitosis caused by the presence of parasites.
        4. The sinusitis. A recent study by the University of Tel Aviv shows that the bad breath could be caused by an infantile form of sinusitis easily treatable with antibiotics treatment. One symptom is not to overlook any child’s snoring. The halitosis, in fact, could be the result of an accumulation of mucus in the throat.
        5. Ketosis. The ketosis is a metabolic disorder of the child who, having burned all at the disposal of the sugar begins to burn the fat. This causes breath of "fruit march", sore stomach, vomiting, malaise, fever and drowsiness.
        6. Caries and gingivitis.
