The occupational dermatitis are commonly reflected in the nursing staff that is exposed to a wide variety of irritants and sensitizing. The original group of nurses evaluated (over 4 years, from 1996 to 1999) comprised 71 subjects: among these 44 (62%) had dermatitis on the hands, 10 (14%) dermatitis to the face, 7 (10%) vulgar dermatitis, 2 (3%) lichen planes of the oral cavity, 1 (1%) per anal dermatitis and 7 (10%) with other types of eczema. New cure for atomic eczema: shortly in Australia
It is estimated that in Western countries about 2.5% of adults and 10-15% of children suffering from atomic eczema, also known as atomic dermatitis.
The atomic eczema is a chronic skin disease that often affects people with other allergic diseases such as asthma and hay from the cold. The manifestation of the disease is variable and may be in the form extended to spread throughout the body and located hitting form in only certain areas of the skin such as eyelids, skin per ocular (around the eye) and peribuccale (around the mouth). In children the main event is detected in cheek, in Regulation, in the back, of ad dome and arms. The itching is the main symptom mainly due to the transformation of skin becomes red, dry and squalors. (more…)
“Eczema, please answer!”
On 27 December I had redness and bruising to the cheeks and at first appears, it is a holiday period, have resorted to the pharmacist who advised me LANACORT cream, but after a couple of days in which noted the burning cream, I tried to apply cortisone-CHEMICETINA, with perhaps even worse reactions, then I thought to try not to use anything. For a period I have noticed some improvement, until the night between 14 and January 15 I woke up scratching his right cheek in the morning and the area in question was red and swollen, later appeared in the area numerosisime vescichette that burst from the sun. Concerned, I went to the emergency room of the general hospital in Milan where a dermatologist has told me GENTALYN BETA cream (2 times a week for 1 g.. (more…)
Handbook of Atomic Eczema
Atomic eczema (eczema, atomic dermatitis, disseminated neuron dermatitis, endogenous eczema) is one of the most common skin diseases of our time? Not only in childhood. The prevalence of this disease has increased dramatically over the past decades, although the reasons for this increase are not known. Eczema occurs anywhere in the world, not only in industrialized countries. It occurs at any age, not only in childhood, and approximately two-thirds of affected children will suffer from this disease when they are grown up. Written by leading experts in their field, this second edition of the excellent handbook of atomic eczema comprises the state of the art in path physiology, clinical medicine, and therapeutic management. It demonstrates that there is no simple "miracle" cream, pill, or diet for this disease, but that a disturbed barrier function can only be repaired by adequate and individualized skin care. (more…)
Eczema, and herpes infections
My daughter of three and a half years is undergoing treatment by a dermatologist for an infected atomic eczema. We are treating with [drug name: cream-based antibiotics and cortisone] mixed with a cream milk oats and special soaps. As the dermatologist has prompted investigations on my husband who suffers from herpes simplex (the first came after a rather violent episode of Zoster), I would like to know if there is any report and if I have to take some precaution and possibly as. The atomic eczema (also called atomic dermatitis or eczema constitutional) is a very common disease (is the reason to visit more common in pediatric clinics for dermatology). As the name says, is "constitutional" and is not contagious. (more…)
Infection and Eczema
These details are only a general guide. Individual circumstances differ and the National Eczema Society does not prescribe, give medical advice or endorse any products or treatments. We hope you find this information useful but they do not replace, and should not replace, the essential guidance which can be given by your doctor or nurse.
This fact sheet explains the relationship between infection and eczema. Causes of infection and details of treatment are fully covered.
Skin affected by eczema tends to develop small cracks and fissures on the surface. This provides entry points for bacteria that can cause infection. Infection makes eczema worse and treatment more difficult. The skin can become more cracked, which leads the way to further infection. Breaking this cycle of infection is the key to successful treatment.
WHAT CAUSES infection in Eczema?
The commonest cause of infection in eczema is a bacterium known as Staphylococcus aureus. It thrives on the weepy, broken skin of eczema. When infected there may be over one hundred million bacteria on a patch of eczema just the size of a finger nail. (more…)
Eczema or dermatitis
The eczema or dermatitis is a skin disease of inflammatory.
The causes may be different, while the forms are mainly two: a form of eczema due to contact with allergens or irritants (eczema or contact dermatitis) and a special form due to malfunctioning of our body (atopic eczema or atopic dermatitis).
Eczema or dermatitis
As can be seen
In the acute phase occurs with eczema blisters on the skin, which can break releasing a clear liquid. Later vesicles cicatrizzano forming crusts and finally manifested the peeling of the skin. The eczema causes intense itching, which can prevent sleep and worsens considerably the quality of life. In contact dermatitis lesions appear wherever the irritants are in contact with skin, for example the hands or the neck and wrists if they are allergic to chains or bracelets. (more…)
The contact eczema
The most common form is the eczema, or dermatitis, contact, inflammatory skin surface condition, acute, subacute or relapsing, which occurs for exposure to exogenous substances of chemical nature, physical-chemical or biological environment in professional or outside. The eczema may arise from contact with two mechanisms: for skin irritation and direct cellular damage, when a substance is applied on the skin for a time and with a sufficient concentration (non-allergic eczema, contact dermatitis or irritant, or DCI), for a mechanism of allergic sensitization, mediated by cells to specific substances (allergic eczema, or topical, or allergic contact dermatitis, or DAC). The contact dermatitis is characterized by skin manifestations of erythema-type edema-vesicular, followed by formation of crusts and finally by peeling. Initially injuries, very itchy, are located in the place of exposure to sensitizing agents, but whether such exposure is still possible extension to other areas of skin. Sensitizing substances are many: for example, metals (chromium, nickel, cobalt); drugs for local use (antibiotics, antihistamines), cosmetics (hair dyes, nail enamel, deodorants), fibers (clothing); substances used at home (detergents, soaps) and so on. For the diagnosis of allergic eczema are common allergy tests epicutanei with the suspected allergen. (more…)
Atopic eczema
For atopy is a strong reactivity against agents normally innocuous (Allergen).Atopic there genetic alteration that leads to the production of reagin, namely citofili antibody (IgE). These immunoglobulins specifically bind to receptors on the surface of mast (cells of the immune system derived connective characterized by cytoplasmic granulation containing substances that are released after immunoglobulin E class acceded to their surface and the activation of mast, together with that of basophils, can lead to anaphylactic shock or local phenomena allergic-type) that release later pharmacologically active substances (histamine, serotonin, bradykinin, SRSA).
The atopic eczema is a chronic skin disease relapsing-occurring mainly in atopic subjects, carriers themselves or of consanguineous with atopic manifestations such as bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis, hives and so on. The familial predisposition is demonstrated in more than 70% of cases. Other causes are allergy (food, inhalants, contattanti), Irritative (detergents etc.). And emotional. Compare after the second month of life and in 75% of cases before the sixth. It was a spontaneous regression usually to nine months or within the second year of life. In some individuals (10-20%) is back in puberty, adolescence and adulthood. (more…)
Contact dermatitis Cos?
The contact dermatitis (DC), a condition also known as common topical eczema, a skin disease caused by an inflammatory response to an external stimulus: skin exposure to particular substances determines that is a reaction phlogistic. The most frequent symptoms are those of the DC typical of all dermatitis (neurodermatitis, seborroica dermatitis, stasis dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, perioral dermatitis, etc.) Mainly swelling, redness and itching. This is not a condition skin for life threatening nor contagious, but still annoying, source of constant concern and sometimes painful. Depending on the case, the DC can resolve, even without treatment, in a few weeks or may require medical attention and treatment that can last in the long term. The mechanisms through which the exposure of skin to an external substance may result in DC are, however, giving rise to forms that, by analogy of their clinical and histological times, are often indistinguishable. The stages that mark the development are summed up thus: penetration of the skin surface layer (the so-called barrier cornea), interaction with the cells of the skin and dermis, interaction with the immune system and, finally, inflammatory response.
1. allergic contact dermatitis (DAC), in which case comes into play a reaction of "delayed hypersensitivity". This is a mode of allergic reaction whose main leaders are of special white blood cells, T lymphocytes Once these cells are awareness against certain substances (the "apteni", the pieces of antigens, which become the binding protein present epidermide) is sufficient even a short exposure to a small amount of allergen because they produce the lesions of DC. The DC Professional are allergic in 50% of cases, but the problem is equally relevant in the outside. (more…)
